5-Sept-2013 1120pm - A date and time to remember

This is a day whereby all of us think that the 7th month is over and since it is the 8th month, our grandpa will be able to pull thru and maybe get well from his illness. He was sick after the Haze and started with phlegm and cough and high fever.

He was warded into hospital since July, in and out, in and out, sometimes discharge on Wednesday, warded back on Friday. then it develop to inflammation due to the food he took orally and it seems to go to his lung, causing infection.

Then the doctor insist must be on food tube so that it will reduce the chances of getting such infection. I guess this is the main problem, grandpa never like to be on tube, needles etc.... he started to pull the tubes out of his nose, then the nurses will come put in for him.... at times he can pull it out 3 times a week, in a row... we can imagine the pain and agony of the tube being inserted to his body....

of coz, when on tube, he cannot take food orally. naturally he lose the ability to chew, to drink from mouth... day by day, he become slimmer, thinner, weaker.

We tried our best to visit him regularly... 2-3 times a week if possible.... this round we told each other not to leave any regret if anything happen to him and we were not able to visit.... so I also went during lunch break, took bus to the hospital, then a cab back to office.... although it was a 20mins visit, I guess it is better than nothing....

the last round he was warded for a good 16 days.... they suck out a lot of phlegm for him.

The way they suck out the phlegm is inhuman, but what to do, if don't suck out the phlegm will cause great discomfort for grandpa and will cause infection leading to fever etc.... the nurses will force him to open mouth and put in the device and suck the phlegm out... most of the times will cause bleeding as he will try to push out the device...

at the middle of 2nd week, the doct told us that grandpa, deteriorated and heart beating irregularly and he is ready to go anytime, see when he decide to leave... heaven's will.

then he was on oxygen tube for a few days and doc say that the breathing is irregular and he had difficulty breathing. I last seen him on Sunday afternoon, when hear that his condition deteriorated.... I never expect he will pass away on Thursday.... if only I know... well, there is no such thing as we can predict when is the time running out... I am upset that I didn't visit him that day..

At least he will no longer be in pain, no more needles which he always hated, always remembered as my dearest grandpa whom doted on me the most.
